Wetlands
A Youth Adventure: Nature Navigators Camp
Explorers will be transported daily to the Ballona Wetlands and learn outdoor skills. From reading maps, using a compass, and identifying animal tracks, adventures will navigate through the wetlands and gain the practical skills to explore the outdoors. With each new skill, they'll become more connected to nature and ready for any wilderness adventure that comes their way. Youth must attend entire week.
 
Note this is not an overnight adventure. Participants will be transported daily to the Ballona Wetlands. 

The Rio Hondo Nature Program is for Pico Rivera residents only and is aimed at the youth and their families.

All participants must be registered to attend the adventure.

Registered participants who do not attend will not be eligible for future trips for the Rio Hondo Nature Program and will be charged a no-show fee of $20.

Nature Navigators Camp

  • Space is limited.
  • When: Monday-Friday, July 14-18, 2025
  • Where: Playa Del Rey Ballona Wetlands
  • Time: 7:30am - 4:00pm (Check-in by 7:15 am).
  • Ages: 8-11 (City Staff will chaperone all participants) This is a youth Excursion.
  • Educational: Outdoor Skills
  • Departure/Arrival Location: Rio Hondo Park, 8421 San Luis Potosi Pl., Pico Rivera, CA 90660
  • Registration Deadline June 9, 2025, or until Full.
  • What to Bring/Wear EACH Day:
  • Sturdy, close-toed shoes
  • Jacket
  • Hat/Sunglasses/Sunblock
  • Full, re-usable Water Bottle
  • Lunch is not provided, please provide a sack lunch daily.
  • (Note: A light AM/PM snack will be provided at the city facility.)
