A Teen Adventure: Kayaking 101 - Guided Tour (Ages 12-18)

New Kayak
The coast of Southern California is teeming with sea life and expansive views of the Channel Islands and coastal cliff sides. The best way for explorers to experience the amazing Pacific Coast ecosystem is from the seat of a kayak floating along this deep and intricate waterscape. This paddle adventure is perfect for all levels of kayaking ranging from beginner to advanced. This excursion will be led by Recreation Equipment Inc.(REI) and feature a water safety course prior to Kayaking.  

Participants to provide their own:
1.) Appropriate swim attire (rash guard highly recommended)
2.) Sunscreen
3.) Hat and Sunglasses
4.) Change of clothes. 

The Rio Hondo Nature Program is for Pico Rivera residents only and is aimed at the youth. 

A WAIVER IS REQUIRED.
Waiver: REI Water Sports Kayaking Waiver
Please download or pick-up wavier in person at Rio Hondo Park. Participants must return the completed waiver to Rio Hondo Park by Tuesday, July 9, 2024, by 7PM. 

The WAIVER must be submitted in-person and provided to:
Rio Hondo Park: 8421 San Luis Potosi Pl.
Participants without the waiver will not be able to attend the excursion. 

Registered participants who do not attend will not be eligible for future trips for the Rio Hondo Nature Program and will be charged a no-show fee of $20.

Kayaking 101

  • Time: 7:45am - 2:00pm
  • Ages: 12-18
  • Departure/Arrival Location: Rio Hondo Park, 8421 San Luis Potosi Pl., Pico Rivera, CA 90660
  • Bus will depart promptly at 7:45am
  • The Rio Hondo Nature Program is for Pico Rivera residents only and is aimed at the youth.
  • A youth must be present for adults to attend.
  • Registered participants who do not attend will not be applicable for future trips for the Rio Hondo Nature Program
  • Space is Limited!
  • Registration Deadline: Monday, July 8, 2024.
  • Registered participants who do not attend will not be eligible for future trips for the Rio Hondo Nature Program and will be charged a no-show fee of $20.
